About GuildGamer

We write about games we finished, hardware we paid for, and patches we actually read. Everything else is somebody else's beat.

What this site is

GuildGamer covers four things: guides, news, reviews and setup. A guide gets published when a writer has cleared the content it describes. A review gets published when a writer has finished the game, not when the embargo lifts. News is short, dated, and corrected in public when we get it wrong.

The tagline is the whole editorial brief: guides, news and reviews for people who actually finish games. That rules out a lot. It rules out first-impressions pieces dressed up as verdicts, it rules out ranked lists assembled from other people's coverage, and it rules out writing about a build we have not run.

How a piece gets made

  • Guides are written from a playthrough, not from a wiki. The writer records the route, then runs it again from a clean save to check it holds. Every guide names the game version it was tested on, because live-service balance moves.
  • Reviews require a credits roll or, for games without one, a clearly stated stopping point and hour count. Scores are out of ten and are set after the verdict is written, never before.
  • News links its primary source. If the source is a Discord message or a deleted post, we say so and we archive it.
  • Setup pieces are costed in real money at the time of writing, with the date on the price. We do not quote sale prices as if they were normal ones.

Corrections

Mistakes get fixed in the article and noted at the bottom of it. We do not quietly edit a claim out of existence. If a guide stops working after a patch, the fastest way to get it updated is to tell us which step broke: mail contact@guildgamer.com or use the contact page.

How we pay for it

Two ways, both boring on purpose. Display advertising pays for hosting and most of the writing. Some links to stores are affiliate links, which means a commission on a sale at no extra cost to you. Neither one buys a score, a placement or a kind word. The full arrangement is written out in the affiliate disclosure.

Advertising and analytics only load after you accept cookies. If you decline, the site still works and you still get the whole article. Nothing here is behind a wall.

Who runs it
